Disclosure done right builds trust and lifts clicks. The plain-language playbook for blogs, video and social.

The Beginner's Playbook for Affiliate Disclosure
Affiliate disclosure: this article may contain links that earn LootNova a commission at no extra cost to you.

Affiliate disclosure is not the boring legal bit you hide in the footer. Done right, it is a conversion tool: readers who know exactly how you earn trust you more, click more, and come back. Here is the beginner playbook.

Say it early, say it plainly

Put one clear sentence before your first affiliate link: “We may earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you.” No jargon, no Latin, no ten-paragraph policy page standing in for honesty.

Disclose on every platform, in its language

  • Blog posts: a disclosure box above the first link and a line in the footer.
  • Video: say it out loud in the first 30 seconds and pin it in the description.
  • Social posts: #ad or #affiliate in the first lines, not buried under twenty hashtags.

Never do these three things

Do not hide disclosure behind a “read more” cut. Do not claim you bought something you were gifted. And never let a commission change your score — the day readers catch a paid 10/10, every link you own stops working.

How we handle it at LootNova

Every review states how we got the product, every bonus states its terms, and our scores can never be bought. That policy costs us short-term deals and earns us the only currency that matters: readers who believe us.
